Hike for Hospice Orillia
Why: The Hike for Hospice is a national event that raises awareness and funds for hospice palliative care in Canada. Funds raised through Hike for Hospice stay in the community in which they are raised – 100% all funds for the Orillia event will go directly to Hospice Orillia and to the services and supports it provides to residents of Orillia and its surrounding communities.
Hospice Orillia is a not-for-profit charitable organization offering practical, emotional and spiritual support to those in our community coping with advanced illness, death and bereavement. Our volunteers and staff serve clients and their loved ones of all ages and backgrounds with compassion and respect while honouring their choices and supporting them through their life journey. All of our services are offered at no cost to the client or family receiving care. Hospice Orillia also provides education to the community through presentations on Advance Care Planning, Grief and Bereavement.
Registration is available online through hospiceorillia.ca or by picking up pledge forms at our location at 169 Front Street S. This year every $100 raised in pledges will result in the hike participant’s name being entered into a draw for 2 return flights to anywhere WestJet flies! The draw will be made on Wednesday, May 4th, 2016.
When: Sunday, May 1rst, 2016
Registration starts at 2 p.m., opening ceremonies at 2:45 p.m. and the Hike starts at 3 p.m.
Where: Couchiching Beach Park, Pavilion 1
5K walk/run (route is to Tudhope Park and back)
