Hospice Orillia offers sincere gratitude for support given throughout the year and seeks to raise critical funding through a year-end appeal.

ORILLIA, December 17, 2015 – In the spirit of the holiday season, Hospice Orillia offers sincere thanks to its donors, volunteers and community partners for the support they’ve shown through the past year to those in our area affected with life-limiting illness and bereavement. Due to the increasing need for hospice palliative care services, Hospice Orillia has launched an annual appeal for funds in support of its visiting volunteer, bereavement and caregiver support programs.

For over 25 years, Hospice Orillia has provided care and support through its volunteer support programs. Bob Maddeaux, explains that, during his wife’s terminal illness, a visiting hospice volunteer “brought moments of joy into my dying wife’s life with her cheerfulness and thoughtfulness. Their gab sessions (were) priceless.” Cathy Kincaide, Client Care Coordinator at Hospice Orillia says, “Visiting volunteers provide an invaluable resource through their presence – not only by spending time with those living with illness but also through their support and encouragement of caregivers.”

Visiting hospice volunteers and bereavement support volunteers receive 30 hours of training through the North Simcoe Muskoka Hospice Palliative Care Network’ (NSMHPCN)’s Fundamentals of Hospice Palliative Care course. This training, along with the ongoing support offered through Hospice Orillia staff, provides volunteers with the knowledge, skill and resources to companion with people through a difficult season of their lives.

Your donation towards Hospice Orillia’s 2015 Annual Appeal is welcomed and will provide critical funding for Volunteer Training and Support, Education, Client Support Groups and Awareness Campaigns. Please visit hospiceorillia.ca to make your online donation or drop off a cheque payable to Hospice Orillia at:

169 Front Street S., Orillia, ON L3V 4S8
